Jana Nayagan Censor Certificate Issue Explained

If the reports are to be believed, Jana Nayagan was submitted for the censor board formalities a few weeks back. Initially, the Tamil Nadu censor board committee reviewed the film, and suggested a few cuts and dialogue changes. It was also confirmed that the Thalapathy Vijay starrer might receive a U/A 16+ rating, considering its violent visuals.

However, the censor board refused to issue the certificate even after the makers made all the instructed cuts and changes in Jana Nayagan. This move by the board prompted the makers, KVN Productions, to move to the Madras High Court, seeking immediate issue of censor certificate. However, the court has decided to push the hearing to January 7, 2026 afternoon, thus allowing the necessary time to the censor board officials, to submit all related documents.

As per the recent updates, the censor board refused to issue a clearance certificate to Jana Nayagan, as it received an anonymous complaint which alleges that the movie has certain scenes and dialogues that hurt religious sentiments. According to the representatives of KVN Productions, the censor board failed to issue a clarification on the delay and failed to respond for over 10 days, before sending the film to revising committee.

If the Madras High Court announces a verdict in favour of Jana Nayagan, the H Vinoth directorial will hit the theatres on January 9, 2026, as planned earlier. However, if the court takes more time to decided, the makers will be forced to postpone the release of the highly anticipated film, which stars Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, and Pooja Hegde in the other key roles, to a new date.
