Jana Nayagan Censor Formalities Explained: What Is In Store For Thalapathy Vijay's Film? The much-awaited film directed by H Vinoth, marks the popular star's final outing in films, before his political entry. Jana Nayagan, however, has been delayed indefinitely due to its issues with the censorship, and later the legal battle with CBFC. Now, Vijay's film has been submitted before the revising committee, for re-censoring.

As reported earlier, Jana Nayagan will now hit the theatres, only after the revising committee appointed by the censor board issues a certificate for the film. As the Thalapathy Vijay starrer got re-submitted before committee, the makers of the film recently withdrew the case against the censor board. However, there are still some formalities pending for the film.

As per the latest reports, the withdrawal notice from the Madras High Court has not been officially submitted to the CBFC, yet. The grapevine suggests that revising committee appointed by the censor board will find a date to review the film and issue the certificate, only after they officially receive the case withdrawal notice from the court.

If things get delayed again, a theatrical release on February 19 or 20, 2026 will be impossible. In that case, the next viable option for the Jana Nayagan release, will be February 27, 2026 or the first week of March 2026. The production banner is reportedly keen to finalise the best possible release date for the Thalapathy Vijay starrer, to ensure a fine performance at the box office.

According to the grapevine, some of distributors have informed KVN Productions that May 1, 2026 would be a perfect new release datefor the film. It is because March and April are busy months, which will have all major exams, and later the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly elections. However, the final decision on Jana Nayagan release date reportedly rests with the leading man, Thalapathy Vijay.
