Jana Nayagan Censor Row: Thalapathy Vijay's Film Gets Postponed As The Court Delays Verdict
Jana Nayagan Censor Row: Thalapathy Vijay's Film To Get Postponed? The highly anticipated project which marks the actor-politician's final outing in films, has been making headlines lately due to the issues on its censor certificate issuance. Jana Nayagan censor was delayed after an anonymous complaint was filed against the Thalapathy Vijay film, citing it hurts the religious sentiments.
The makers of the H Vinoth directorial, KVN Productions filed an urgent petition at the Madras High Court for the immediate issuance of censor certificate, on Tuesday January 6, 2026. However, the court has delayed the verdict on the Jana Nayagan censor certificate delay case, and it has clearly impacted the release of Thalapathy Vijay's final film.
Jana Nayagan To Get Postponed After The Court Delays Verdict On Censor Case?
If the recent updates are to be believed, the Madras High Court has pushed the verdict of the Jana Nayagan censor certificate delay case to Friday, January 9, 2026 morning. However, this has impacted the Thalapathy Vijay starrer, which has been slated to be released on the same day. Now, it is impossible for the H Vinoth directorial to clear the censor formalities and release on the same day in India.
Sharing the statement on their official handle, the makers wrote: "It is with a heavy heart that we share this update with our valued stakeholders and audiences. The release of Jana Nayagan, eagerly awaited on January 9, has been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances beyond our control. We deeply understand the anticipation, excitement, and emotions surrounding this film, and this decision has not been an easy one for any of us. The new release date will be announced at the earliest. Until then, we humbly request your patience and continued love. Your unwavering support is our greatest strength and means everything to the entire Jana Nayagan team."
This is not a good news for the Jana Nayagan team, as the advance booking sales are already progressing in full swing at the overseas centers and the neighbouring states including Kerala and Karnataka. As the Thalapathy Vijay starrer got pushed to a new release date, it has resulted in more complications for the distributors and theatre owners, along with financial losses.
