Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan was originally expected to be released on January 9, 2026. But the H Vinoth directorial has been delayed indefinitely after the makers filed a lawsuit against CBFC for delaying the censor certificate.

If the recent reports are to be believed, the makers of Jana Nayagan are now actively considering the possibility of withdrawing the legal case against censor board. According to the grapevine, the makers, KVN Productions might make this move, because proceeding with the case might delay the release of the Thalapathy Vijay starrer, further.

As reported earlier, if the Jana Nayagan team proceeds with the legal case against CBFC, the arguments will have to start from the scratch. The Madras High Court recently ordered that the case should be handled by a single judge bench, which suggests that the legal battle will not end anytime soon. The court made this decision to provide the censor board an option to submit their arguments.

In that case, the Jana Nayagan release will not happen in February 2026. It is also confirmed that film releases will not be allowed in Tamil Nadu once the Assembly election dates are announced. So, the next option for the Thalapathy Vijay starrer's team is to wait till the elections get over. In that case, the release of H Vinoth's film will be pushed to May 2026.

However, if the Jana Nayagan team withdraws the case against the censor board now, they will receive another opportunity to resubmit it for censor process. In that case, the Thalapathy Vijay starrer might get submitted to a new revising committee, and a certificate will be issued in a lesser time. If things proceed smoothly, the film might get a February 2026 release.
