Karuppu Budget & Box Office Target: The Tamil action drama Karuppu has finally hit theatres today (May 10), drawing strong attention from both audiences and trade analysts. Featuring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan in lead roles, the film has opened with noticeable curiosity, as viewers and industry experts keep a close watch on its day-one performance.

With conversations around the production budget and early earnings of Karuppu already gaining momentum, the focus has now shifted to its box office journey. The coming days will be crucial in deciding whether the film can maintain this initial buzz and achieve the numbers required to earn a hit verdict commercially.

KARUPPU BUDGET, CAST, AND OTHER DETAILS

Karuppu presents a powerful mix of action and social drama, centred around a lawyer whose life takes a supernatural turn when he becomes possessed by a deity. Using this divine force, he begins to fight against the injustice faced by marginalised communities, adding a spiritual layer to a courtroom narrative.

The trailer offers a glimpse into an emotional legal battle involving an elderly man and his granddaughter, who have been visiting the court for years as their case remains unresolved. Trisha Krishnan plays lawyer Preethi, who steps in to support them, despite facing tough opposition from another advocate, portrayed by RJ Balaji. The story takes a dramatic turn with the entry of Suriya, whose character adds intensity and intrigue to the narrative.

The film has received a U/A 13+ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification, and its runtime is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. Directed by RJ Balaji, Karuppu features Suriya in dual roles as Saravanan and Karuppuswamy, while Trisha Krishnan essays the role of Preethi. RJ Balaji also appears as the main antagonist, Baby Kannan. The supporting cast includes actors like Swasika, Indrans, Yogi Babu, Sshivada, and Natty Subramaniam, among others.

According to reports, the film has been made on a budget of around Rs 130 crore and has already secured over Rs 110 crore in pre-release business, including digital and satellite rights.

KARUPPU (HINDI) BOX OFFICE TARGET

When it comes to its box office prospects, Karuppu has a clear target to achieve. The film is expected to collect around Rs 150 crore overall to be declared a clean hit and it looks easily achievable for the actioner. However, the scenario looks more challenging for its Hindi version, which would need to earn approximately Rs 40-50 crore to reach a hit status.

Given the relatively low buzz in the Hindi belt, achieving that number may not be easy. The film's performance in the northern market remains uncertain, and much will depend on word of mouth in the coming days.
