Karur Stampede Case Update: CBI Rejects Vijay's Request
The Central Bureau Of Investigation team, that handles the Karur Stampede case, has rejected Thalapathy Vijay's request to allow him 15 days time to appear for question. As per the reports, the team turned down Vijay's request, but there is a small relief for the actor-politician. Instead of allowing him 15 days of time, the team has given him 5 days time, to appear for questioning.
According to the latest reports, the team has now sent a fresh summons (notice) to Thalapathy Vijay, asking him to appear before the team for questioning on Sunday, March 15, 2026. As reported earlier, the TVK Chief had also requested the team to shift the questioning to Chennai or any nearby areas, instead of conducting it at the CBI Headquarters in New Delhi.
Thalapathy Vijay asked for this change, as his travelling plans might create a conflict in the pre-decided election campaign schedule of Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK). However, the Karur stampede investigation team is yet to consider the actor's request. A major update on the same is expected to be out soon.
As you may know, Thalapathy Vijay attended the TVK rally held in Karur, Tamil Nadu on September 27, 2026. The tragic stampede at the rally killed 41 people and injured over 100. The crush was triggered by a 7-hour delay in TVK Chief Vijay's arrival, which ended up causing a massive crowd surge.
