Mankatha Re-Release Goes Wrong After Ajith Fans Damage Screens; Theatres To Halt Shows? Tamil cinema had an exciting weekend, with the grand re-release of the Ajith Kumar starrer directed by Venkat Prabhu. Mankatha, which originally hit the theatres in 2011, has received a warm welcome from the cinephiles. However, things went wrong recently, after the leading man's fans damaged the theatre screens amidst the shows.

Even though the Mankatha re-release has clearly restored the cold atmospheres of Tamil Nadu theatres, which had a rather underwhelming Pongal, this year. However, the theatre owners are now highly upset with the Ajith Kumar fans who turned up to celebrate their idol's biggest re-release. According to the reports, the fans who got carried away by the celebrations, burned crackers inside the theatres, which damaged the screens.
Meanwhile, it is also reported that the Ajith fans assaulted a Thalapathy Vijay fan at the Mankatha re-release show which was held at the Pandian Cinemas in Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu, recently. Even though the theatre management has not comment on the brawl between the fans, it revealed that the screens are damaged due to the fans' unruly behaviour, in an official statement.
The theatre owners have decided to put an end to the practice of replaying the best scenes after the show, following this incident. As per the reports, the owners of Tamil Nadu theatres, that had a tough time handling Ajith Kumar's fans at the Mankatha re-release, are also considering halting the shows, due to the same.
Mankatha Cast And Crew
The Venkat Prabhu revolves around Vinayak Mahadevan IPS, a corrupted police officer who joins the Mumbai police as an ACP. He soon joins forces with a gang of four young men, who plans on a heist of cricket betting money. Ajith Kumar played the role of ACP Vinayak, the anti-hero of Mankatha, to near perfection.
Arjun Sarja, Trisha Krishnan, Lakshmi Rai, Andrea Jeramiah, Vaibhav, Ashwin Kakumanu, Premgi Amaran, Mahat Raghavendra, Aravind Akash, and others essayed the other key roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the music score for Mankatha. Sakthi Saravanan is the director of photography. Praveen KL and NB Srikanth handled the editing of the film, bankrolled by Cloud Nine Movies.
