Vaa Vaathiyaar, which was released with major expectations, has now ended up as a box office disaster. But Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil, which hit the theatres without any hype, has now emerged as a clear winner.

Even though both Vaa Vaathiyaar and Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil were released during the same week, Jiiva's film emerged as the clear winner of Pongal season 2026. The Karthi starrer has reportedly collected just around ₹11.03 crore from its worldwide run, according to the recent reports by Koimoi. This confirms that the Nalan Kumarasamy directorial, which has already ended its theatrical run at most of the centers, ended up as a box office disaster.

Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil, on the other hand, is reportedly set to cross the ₹40 crore mark at the worldwide box office, as it completed the first 15 days of its release. As per the Sacnilk reports, the Jiiva starrer directed by Nithish Sahadev has been continuing with its decent run at the theatres, and has made a net collection of over ₹27 crore from the India box office, so far.

In that case, it is also confirmed that the satirical comedy film has crossed the ₹30 crore mark in India, with its gross collection. If things proceed at the same rate, TTT has high chances to enter the ₹50 crore mark at the worldwide box office, within its lifetime run at the theatres.
