Thalapathy Vijay Summoned By CBI For Questioning In Karur Stampede Case: The popular star of Tamil cinema announced his retirement from films, to focus on his political career, last year. Thalapathy Vijay later launched his political party named TVK Vijay (Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam), and is intending to contest in the upcoming Tamil Nadu elections.

However, things took an ugly turn when TVK Vijay's Karur rally resulted in an unfortunate stampede, which resulted in deaths of over 41 people. Over 100 people who were a part of the rally conducted by Thalapathy Vijay's political party were severely injured, and it led to a massive backlash towards the actor. The Karur rally stampede case is currently investigated by the CBI.

Thalapathy Vijay Summoned By CBI For Questioning

As per the latest updates, the CBI team which has been handling the Karur rally stampede case, has summoned the political party's chief Thalapathy Vijay for questioning. The Jana Nayagan actor has been asked to appear before the CBI team at the agency's office on Monday, January 12, 2026.

The Karur rally stampede case was handed over to the CBI recently, following the orders of the Supreme Court of India. The agency has been questioning several office bearers of Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam, from the last few days. As per the reports, CBI will file the chargesheet on the Karur stampede case investigation, soon after the team questions TVK chief, Thalapathy Vijay.

All About The Karur Stampede Case

For the uninitiated, the unfortunate tragedy happened on September 27, 2025, at the rally conducted by the political party TVK Vijay, at the Velusamypuram locality of Karur, Tamil Nadu. As per the police investigation reports, the rally had over 27,000 participants, while the arrangement were made for just 10,000 people.

Thalapathy Vijay was supposed to join the rally in the afternoon, but he reached Karur after a seven-hour delay. According to the police chargesheet, this was the major reason why the crowd went out of control. The police team also suggests that the TVK Vijay team failed to make the necessary security arrangements to handle such a massive crowd.
