Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan Will Not Release Anytime Soon: Madras High Court Slams Makers For THIS Reason
Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan Will Not Release Anytime Soon; Madras High Court Slams Makers: The much-awaited film, which was originally slated to be released on January 9, 2026, has been making headlines with the issues related to its censor certification lately. Even though Jana Nayagan was granted a U/A certificate in the hearing which was held on the same day, the Thalapathy Vijay starrer is now postponed indefinitely.
Jana Nayagan Release Postponed Indefinitely
The release of the H Vinoth directorial has been postponed indefinitely after the Censor Board filed an appeal on the initial verdict of the Madras High Court on the Jana Nayagan censor certification. As per the latest reports, the court has asked the CBFC to hold back the film's certification until the hearing on the case is completed. The next hearing on the appeal filed by the censor board is slated to be held on January 21, 2026.
Now, it is almost confirmed that Jana Nayagan has very less chances to hit the theatres in January 2026, as planned earlier. While considering the currently situations, the makers, KVN Productions will now finalise a new release date only after the Madras High Court completes its hearing on the censor issues of the upcoming Thalapathy Vijay starrer, and produces a verdict.
Madras High Court Slams Jana Nayagan Makers
As per the reports, the Madras High Court which favoured the appeal filed by the censor board, also slammed the makers of Jana Nayagan in its verdict. The court questioned the team's decision to finalise a release date for the Thalapathy Vijay starrer and proceeding with the same, without a censor certificate in hand. "You cannot fix a release date and put pressure on the system like that," said the judging panel, in the verdict.
The Madras High Court also suggested that the censor board will need at least two to three days should be given, to oppose the release of Jana Nayagan. However, with the next hearing on January 21, 2026, it is now clear that the censor board has got plenty of time to work on their arguments against the Vijay starrer.
