Vaa Vaathiyaar Box Office Collection Day 1 Prediction: Karthi and director Nalan Kumarasamy's action-comedy film hit the theatres on January 14, 2026, as a Pongal release. Vaa Vaathiyaar, which was delayed multiple times, hit the theatres without a major pre-release hype or a massive promotional campaign. The Karthi starrer is now reportedly gearing up to make a slow opening at the box office.

The action comedy, which marked the first collaboration of Karthi and director Nalan Kumarasamy, is set to have a slow start at the worldwide box office. The recent updates by the trade analyzing website Sacnilk, Vaa Vaathiyaar is expected to collect around ₹2 crore from the all-India (domestic) box office, on its Day 1 at the theatres.
According to the recent reports by the Times Of India, the Karthi starrer is expected to make a gross collection of around ₹5 crore, with its worldwide box office opening on Day 1. But, the trade analysts suggest that Vaa Vaathiyaar is expected to emerge as a box office winner, all thanks to the positive reviews and word-of-mouth publicity. In that case, the action comedy film will have an excellent first weekend at the box office, owing to the Pongal 2026 season.

Karthi plays the central character Rameshwaran, a young police officer named Ramesharan aka Ramu. His grandfather, who is a die-hard fan of legendary actor-politician MGR, believes that Ramu is his idol's reincarnation. Even though he is encouraged to take the route of 'Vaathiyaar' (MGR), Ramu grows up to become a corrupt police officer.
Karthi plays the role of Ramu in Vaa Vaathiyaar, which stars Krithi Shetty as the female lead. Sathyaraj, Raj Kiran, Nizhalgal Ravi, Anandaraj, Shilpa Manjunath, Karunakaran, GM Sundar, Ramesh Thilak, PL Thenappan, and others essay the supporting roles in the film. Santhosh Narayanan composed the songs and original score for the film. George C Williams cranked the camera and Vetre Krishnan handled the editing.
