Vaa Vaathiyaar Gets A New Release Date: Karthi is teaming up with talented filmmaker Nalan Kumarasamy, for his next outing in Tamil cinema. Vaa Vaathiyaar, which was originally expected to hit the theatres on December 12, 2025, was later postponed unexpectedly due to some financial issues and the legal battles followed. However, the Karthi starrer is now gearing to hit the theatres soon.

Vaa Vaathiyaar Gets A New Release Date

Recently, Studio Green, the production banner took to their official social media handles and confirmed that Vaa Vaathiyaar is finally getting a worldwide release. As per the latest updates, the financial issues surrounding the Karthi starrer have been sold, and the movie has already cleared the censor formalities. The Nalan Kumarasamy directorial will now hit the theatres on January 14, 2026, as a Pongal special release.

"Vaathiyaar Varaar.... Vaa Vaathiyaar - All set for a grand release on January 14," wrote the production banner Studio Green, which released a new poster of the Karthi starrer along with the release date announcement. In the poster, the popular actor is seen on a horse back in a look which is strikingly similar to a famous onscreen look sported by the legendary actor-politican MG Ramachandran, in an earlier film.

Vaa Vaathiyaar Plot, Star Cast And Crew

As per the reports, Vaa Vaathiyaar depicts the story of DSP Rameshwaran, a young and vibrant police officer who has a very filmy personality. His grandfather believes that he is a reincarnation of legendary Tamil superstar and politican, MGR. Vaa Vaathiyaar depicts how the Rameshwaran's job with the Tamil Nadu police force changes his life and relationships with those who are around him.

Karthi plays the central character DSP Rameshwaran in Vaa Vaathiyaar, which stars Krithi Shetty as the female lead. Sathyaraj, Raj Kiran, Nizhalgal Ravi, Anandaraj, Shilpa Manjunath, Karunakaran, GM Sundar, Ramesh Thilak, PL Thenappan, and others essay the supporting roles in Vaa Vaathiyaar. Santhosh Narayanan composed the songs and original score for the film. George C Williams cranked the camera and Vetre Krishnan handled the editing.
