As per the latest updates, it has been confirmed that the actor-politician is set to have a very tough time in both his personal life and professional front, with the upcoming Tamil Nadu elections, and the first hearing on the divorce case filed by his estranged wife Sangeetha, in April.
As reported earlier, the first hearing of Vijay and Sangeetha Sornalingam's divorce case will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026. The Chengalpattu Family Court, where Sangeetha filed her divorce petition alleging that the TVK Chief is having an extramarital affair with a popular actress, has reportedly sent a legal notice for Vijay on the same, recently. The actor-politician is reportedly planning to settle things amicable as soon as possible, and has reportedly offered a single-time alimony of ₹250 crore for Sangeetha.
Immediately after his first divorce hearing, Thalapathy Vijay is gearing up to face the Tamil Nadu assembly elections 2026, for the first time ever. As you may know, the upcoming elections are expected to be held in the state on Thursday, April 23, 2026. Vijay indeed has made some big plans for himself and his political party TVK, around the upcoming elections and wants to become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
Meanwhile, the censor board is expected to finally issue a clearance certificate for the actor-politician's final film, Jana Nayagan, by the first week of April 2026. If things go as planned, the H Vinoth directorial which marks Thalapathy Vijay's final outing in cinema, might hit the theaters by the final week of April 2026.
Not jus April, even the first week of May 2026 is special for Vijay. The elections results are expected to be out on May 4, 2026, which also happens to be Thalapathy Vijay's rumoured lady love Trisha Krishnan's 43rd birthday. If the elections results favoured the actor-politician, May 4, 2026 is going to mark a new phase in both her professional and personal lives.
