Now, latest reports suggest that Vijay has sold his property in one of the most expensive locations in Chennai for a whopping ₹35 crore, amidst his ongoing divorce battle with estranged wife Sangeetha. Reportedly, this property deal was done in a haste, and this move has left the media and social spectators surprised.
Thalapathy Vijay Sells Anna Nagar Property Worth ₹35 Crore Amidst Divorce With Sangeetha
According to the latest reports published by Lakshmi Subramanian in The Week, it has been confirmed that Thalapathy Vijay has sold one of his prime properties in Anna Nagar, which is one of the most expensive locations in Chennai city. As per the reports, this property deal was done over a week ago. This particular property, owned by the TVK Chief, has reportedly been sold for a whopping ₹35 crore.
Even though the actor-politician was reportedly discussing this property sale for over a year now, it was done in a haste in March 2026. According to the close sources, Vijay's motives behind selling this property in a hurry, was not to fund his party TVK (Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam). Instead, the actor-politician decided to sell this prime Anna Nagar property on an urgent basis to "liquidate" some of his assets before the elections.
It is rumoured that Vijay sold this property because of his ongoing divorce case with Sangeetha. The reports claim that the TVK Chief might have decided to sell this property in advance before the divorce, as it might prevent his wife from claiming her rights over it. Another reason could be that Vijay might not get the consent of his wife Sangeetha in current situation, to mention the properties in her name in the election affidavit.
If the reports are to be believed, Thalapathy Vijay's legal team believes that his nomination for the Tamil Nadu elections 2026 might get rejected due to these reasons. So, the actor-politician might proceed with liquidating more properties under his name, so that they will not be required to be mentioned in the assets column in his election affidavit.
