Kabali
Plot:
Rajinikanth
spends
25
years
of
his
life
in
jail,
when
he
returns,
he
is
in
for
a
surprise,
which
is
gradually
revealed
to
the
audience.
Why
was
he
locked
up
in
a
Malaysian
jail
for
such
a
long
period
of
time
is
shown
in
the
flashback.
The
rest
of
the
film
deals
with
what
Rajini
does
to
get
back
his
lost
life
and
how
he
achieves
his
prime
task,
for
which
he
was
jailed
all
these
while.
Performances:
Rajinikanth
steals
the
show
from
the
very
beginning
till
the
end.
Kabali
might
not
have
the
usual
Rajinism
one
expects
from
a
superstar-starrer,
but
his
acting
skills
come
to
the
fore
and
the
star
actor
has
absolutely
nailed
it.
Stand
out
performances
are
delivered
by
Radhika
Apte
and
Riythvika.
Kudos
to
director
Pa
Ranjith
for
etching
out
strong
female
characters
and
all
of
them
have
done
justice
to
their
characters,
including
Dhansika.
Watch
out
for
Dhansika's
action
sequences.
Combination
scenes
between
Rajinikanth
and
Winston
Chao
have
come
out
really
well
and
the
Taiwanese
actor
has
made
an
impressive
Tamil
debut.

Technicalities:
While
the
first
half
is
pacy
with
sharp
cuts
by
editor
Praveen
KL,
the
second
half
delves
into
the
emotional
side
of
things
as
Kabali
gets
a
bit
melodramatic.
Stunt
sequences
by
Anbu
and
Arivu
are
choreographed
well
and
the
duo
deserves
an
applause
for
making
the
action
scenes
as
realistic
as
possible.
Cinematography
by
G
Murali
adds
stability
to
the
film.
Angles
and
colors
used
by
the
cameraman
are
impressive
as
it
suits
each
and
every
frame.
Music
by
Santhosh
Narayanan
is
a
big
positive.
If
you
are
a
fan
of
Rajinikanth,
then
Santhosh's
music
will
put
a
smile
on
your
face
for
days
to
come.
Director
Ranjith
could've
used
the
star
image
of
Rajinikanth
in
a
much
better
way.
Awfully
less
number
of
hoot-worthy
scenes
is
a
major
worry.
Overall
View:
You
might
be
disappointed
if
you
go
into
the
cinema
hall
keeping
in
mind
the
recent
hype
and
hoopla
around
Kabali.
However,
this
is
definitely
Rajinikanth's
best
in
the
recent
times.
