Uorfi
Javed
Update:
After
calling
out
Huma
Qureshi,
TV
star
Pankit
Thakker,
popularly
known
for
playing
Dr.
Atul
in
the
iconic
medical
television
drama
Dill
Mill
Gayye,
has
slammed
social
media
sensation
Urfi
Javed
(named
changed
to
Uorfi
now)
for
her
fashion
choices
at
public
places.
Talking
exclusively
to
Filmibeat,
Pankit
Thakker
said,
"Urfi
Javed
has
got
into
a
habit
of
making
headlines
for
her
fashion
choices.
However,
these
choices
makes
her
look
like
a
mere
object
of
sexual
desire;
particularly
to
the
youth
of
India.
She
is
setting
a
worst
example
for
impressionable
young
people
by
wearing
such
a
stupid
clothing
and
promoting
a
culture
of
objectification."

He
says,
"We
live
in
an
independent
country
but
that
freedom
can't
be
misused.
It
is
important
to
recognize
that
fashion
is
a
powerful
tool
of
expression
and
creativity.
It
allows
individuals
to
showcase
their
personality
and
uniqueness.
However,
it
is
also
important
to
consider
the
impact
that
our
choices
may
have
on
others,
especially
younger
generations."
"According
to
me
the
issue
with
such
clothing
choices
is
that
they
promote
objectification
rather
than
empowerment.
Instead
of
inspiring
young
people
to
be
confident
in
their
bodies
and
individuality,
they
perpetuate
the
notion
that
one's
worth
lies
in
their
physical
appearance.
Moreover,
such
clothing
choices
can
also
lead
to
the
normalization
of
harassment
towards
women.
When
women
are
expected
to
dress
in
a
certain
way,
or
when
their
clothing
choices
are
scrutinized
and
labelled
as
inappropriate,
it
reinforces
the
idea
that
women's
bodies
are
fair
game
for
comments
or
harassment,"
he
further
added.
Pankit,
currently
seen
in
TV
show,
Janam
Janam
Ka
Saath,
and
previously
featured
in
shows
like
Bohot
Pyaar
Karte
Hai,
Aapki
Nazron
Ne
Samjha,
Bahu
Hamari
Rajni
Kant
among
others,
feels
Urfi
is
miss
using
freedom.
PANKIT
THAKKER
SAYS
UORFI
JAVED'S
CHOICES
CAN
INFLUENCE
YOUTH
He
tells,
"While
Urfi
has
the
freedom
to
express
herself
through
her
fashion
choices,
it
is
important
to
recognize
that
she
is
also
a
public
figure
with
a
large
following,
especially
among
young
people.
Her
choices
can
influence
and
shape
the
perceptions
and
values
of
her
fans,
particularly
those
who
may
also
be
struggling
with
issues
of
body
image
and
self-worth."
"Urfi
Javed's
fashion
choices,
which
promote
objectification
and
the
normalization
of
harassment
towards
women,
set
a
wrong
example
for
the
youth
of
India
and
should
be
examined
critically.
We
need
to
encourage
fashion
choices
that
celebrate
individuality
and
promote
self-confidence,
rather
than
those
that
perpetuate
harmful
cultural
narratives,"
he
concluded.
Now,
it'll
be
interesting
to
see
how
Uorfi
Javed
would
react
to
it.
