Munawar
Faruqui
News:
Munawar
Faruqui,
a
popular
stand-up
comedian,
has
established
himself
among
the
most
loved
celebrities
in
the
showbiz.
While
he
first
rose
to
fame
after
many
of
his
videos
went
viral,
Kangana
Ranaut's
controversial
reality
show
Lock
Upp
proved
to
be
a
turning
point
in
his
career.
Last
year,
he
entered
Kangana's
show
as
a
contestant,
won
many
hearts
with
his
strong
performance,
and
turned
out
to
be
the
winner
of
Lock
Upp
first
season.
However,
did
you
know
that
he
had
stayed
in
the
real
jail
for
37
days
in
2021?
Yes,
you
read
that
right!
For
the
unversed,
Munawar
Faruqui
was
arrested
on
January
2,
2021,
for
allegedly
hurting
religious
sentiments
on
one
of
his
shows
in
Mandya
Pradesh's
Indore
City.
In
a
recent
interview,
the
young
lad
opened
up
about
his
experience
of
staying
in
jail
and
called
it
a
'hell'
where
people
go
alive.
MUNAWAR
FARUIQUI
COMPARES
37
DAYS
IN
REAL
JAIL
TO
'HELL'
Sharing
the
same
with
Etimes,
he
stated,
"Jail
is
the
hell
where
you
go
alive.
I
wouldn't
even
want
to
send
my
arch-enemy
to
this
hell.
You
are
disconnected
from
the
outer
world
where
you
are
ordered
to
do
basic
things
of
your
routine.
There
were
people
who
went
back
home
after
14
years
and
couldn't
find
their
homes.
The
family
members
had
stopped
meeting
them
and
also
relocated
themselves."
Revealing
details
about
how
he
used
to
spend
those
days
in
jail,
Munawar
revealed
that
he
used
to
engage
in
conversations
with
everyone.
Everyone
seemed
eager
to
talk
to
him.
His
daily
routine
followed
a
pattern.
At
6:30
am,
Munawat
and
other
prisoners
would
gather
for
prayer,
and
then
they
were
granted
45
minutes
to
attend
to
personal
tasks
like
bathing
and
laundry.
The
real
struggle
for
him
was
to
endure
the
five-hour
period
from
7
am
to
12
pm,
anxiously
awaiting
lunchtime.
To
him,
it
felt
like
a
punishment
in
itself.
The
quality
of
the
food
served
was
even
worse
than
what
those
who
rarely
had
access
to
meals
would
eat.
Then,
they
had
to
wait
until
7
pm
for
the
evening,
and
by
8:30
pm,
it
was
time
to
sleep.
On
January
1,
2021,
Munawar
and
four
other
individuals
were
arrested.
Another
person
was
arrested
at
a
later
time.
The
arrest
was
made
in
response
to
a
complaint
filed
by
Eklavya
Gaur,
the
convenor
of
Hind
Rakshak
Sangathan
and
son
of
Bharatiya
Janata
Party
legislator
Malini
Gaur.
Faruqui,
originally
from
Junagadh,
Gujarat,
was
charged
under
sections
188,
269,
34,
and
295A
of
the
Indian
Penal
Code
(IPC).
These
charges
included
organizing
the
event
without
permission,
violating
COVID-19
safety
regulations,
and
causing
offense
to
religious
sentiments,
as
stated
by
Gaur's
lawyer.
Gaur
alleged
that
he
and
his
associates
attended
the
show
where
they
claimed
indecent
jokes
were
made
about
Hindu
deities
and
Union
Home
Minister
Amit
Shah.
After
spending
over
a
month
in
jail,
Munawar
was
finally
granted
bail
in
the
case.
