In an Instagram post, the Bigg Boss 7 star Sofia Hayat called out Salman Khan and wrote, "Dear Salman, I hear you are getting trolled for your new movie because you are romancing a woman who is young enough to be your daughter. I actually don't have a problem with this, an adult is an adult. But, as an "actor", who has made so many movies, and has an influence, maybe less so now, on younger audiences, I would have hoped you could have evolved as a person, in the way the Indian audiences have evolved. Indian people are by nature, spiritual and intelligent, yet your movies are on a kind of loop, trying desperately to convince your evolved audiences that what you are doing with younger actresses in your movies, is a way to help younger actors. You said you would even romance Rashmikas daughter one day. When I grew up watching Bollywood movies, with likes of Amitabh Bachan and Rekha, I truly believed in love. What you're doing feels narcissistic."
She added, "I would love you to evolve consciously with your audience. Ageing is difficult, especially if you are in the public eye, I know, as a woman going through menopause, how hard it is to accept these changes, and I would love to see you in a movie where the woman is menopausal and how you as her hero, show how much you love her, by understanding this change in her. Not only would you educate the masses, especially the men of India, about this challenging period in a woman's life cycle, but you would make a women feel seen. That's a true hero. Not one that fights people all the time and has back drops of explosions in the background. A sexy woman is not always the youngest, but one who has lived life. Can you please show this in your next movie? I would definitely come and watch!"
