Guntur Kaaram Story

Guntur Kaaram is a Telugu action entertainer movie directed by Trivikram Srinivas. The movie casts Mahesh Babu, Meenakshi Chaudhary, and Sreeleela in the main lead roles along with Jagapathi Babu, Jayaram, Brahmanandam, Ramya Krishna, Prakash Raj and many others have seen in supporting roles. The music was composed by Thaman S while the cinematography was done by P. S. Vinod, Manoj Paramahamsa and it is edited by Naveen Nooli. The film is produced by S. Radha Krishna (Chinababu) under Haarika & Hassine Creations banner.

Story

In his early years, Veer Venkata Ramana, also known as Raman (Mahesh Babu), faces abandonment by his mother Vasundhara (Ramyakrishna), while his father Jayaram is sentenced to jail. Raised by his aunt (Eeswari Rao), Ramana grows up harboring resentment towards his mother, fueled by a perceived injustice. Engaged in the chili business in Guntur, Ramana adopts a rebellious attitude. In an attempt to seek justice, Vasundhara and his father (Prakash Raj) try to obtain Ramana's signature on legal documents.

Amidst these challenges, his mother and grandfather (Prakash Raj) strive to reconcile with him. Raman's father endeavors to instill a sense of truth in him. The film explores why Ramana's mother chose to marry another person (Rao Ramesh) and the reasons behind the estrangement between Vasundhara and her son. Did Ramana sign the documents, and did Vasundhara reunite with her son? The movie unravels these questions, revealing the intricate dynamics within the family.

Casting

Initially, Pooja Hegde was chosen as the female lead opposite Mahesh Babu, marking their second collaboration after Maharshi (2019) and her third project with the director. Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts, Hegde had to withdraw from the film, leading to the selection of Sree Leela as her replacement. While initially signed for the second female lead, Sreeleela transitioned to the lead actress role, and Meenakshi Chaudhary was then cast for the second role. In February 2023, Ramya Krishna was enlisted for a significant role in the movie. Prakash Raj joined the cast in March to portray Mahesh Babu's grandfather. Jayaram and Jagapathi Babu were later added to the ensemble in subsequent months. 

Marketing

In May 2021, the film was officially revealed with the working title SSMB28, signifying Mahesh's 28th film in a leading role. The official title was unveiled in May 2023. Principal photography began in September 2022, primarily filmed in Hyderabad, and concluded by late December 2023.

On May 31, 2023, the first glimpse unveiled, marking the 80th birth anniversary of Mahesh's father, Krishna. This preview was showcased alongside the 4K re-release of Mosagallaku Mosagadu in theaters. The official trailer for the film was subsequently released on January 7, 2023, garnering an immense number of views on YouTube instantly.

Guntur Kaaram Theatrical and Ott Release Date 

Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram released worldwide on Jan 12, 2023 on the eve of Sankranti. Based on industry norms, we can expect Guntur Kaaram's digital release on Netflix OTT platform approximately 45 days after its theatrical premiere. This suggests that the movie might become available on Netflix on February 9th, 2024.

Guntur Kaaram Box-Office

Consequently, within the first two days, the overall worldwide collection reached an impressive 127 crores.
