Kannappa Story
Kannappa is a Telugu fantasy drama movie directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh. The movie casts Vishnu Manchu playing the title role in this movie along with Madhoo, R. Sarathkumar, Mohan Babu, and many others have seen in supporting roles. The music was composed by Stephen Devassy while the cinematography was done by Sheldon Chau and it is edited by Anthony. The film is produced by Mohan Babu under 24 Frames Factory and AVA Entertainment banners.
Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar are made cameo appearance in this film while Rebel star Prabhas played an important role. Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar plays an important role in Kannappa.
Story
Set in the 2nd century, in the region of Udukuru (present-day Srikalahasti), a tribal youth named Thinnadu (Vishnu Manchu) is a staunch atheist. He harbors intense anger and disgust towards the concept of God and even despises those who worship Lord Shiva. However, this very atheist falls in love at first sight with Nemali (Preethi Mukundhan), a devout follower of Shiva who loves the deity more than her own life. For the sake of love, Thinnadu is exiled from his village. Nemali too abandons her status and authority in her tribe to marry him.
As Thinnadu and Nemali begin their life together, divine intervention begins to disrupt their marital peace. On the day of Maha Shivaratri, a divine twist transforms Thinnadu from an atheist into a staunch devotee of Lord Shiva.
Why does Thinnadu despise God so much? What painful experiences and sufferings in his life led him to lose faith in the divine? Who is Kirata (Mohanlal), who enters Thinnadu’s life? What profound experiences does Kirata bring to him? Why does Mahadev Shastri (Mohan Babu) prevent ordinary devotees from accessing the Vayu Linga?
Who is Rudra (Prabhas)? Under what circumstances does Rudra appear in Thinnadu’s life, and how does he guide him toward spirituality? What kind of sacrifice does Thinnadu make as he transforms from an atheist to a devout follower of Shiva? Why does he sacrifice his own eyes?
What ultimate salvation do Lord Shiva and Parvati (Akshay Kumar and Kajal Aggarwal) grant to Thinnadu in recognition of his unwavering devotion? The answers to all these questions form the spiritual and emotional journey at the heart of the film Kannappa.
