Paradha Story

Paradha is a Telugu drama movie directed by 'Cinema Bandi' fame Praveen Kandregula. The movie casts Anupama Parameswaran, Darshana Rajendran, and Sangeetha Krish in the main lead roles along with Kalpalatha, Khedar Shankar, Jhansi, Shatru, Mahesh Achanta, Chammak Chandra, Basha, Anashvi Reddy, Shiva Kumar, Mirchi Madhavi, Sri Lalitha, Keerthi Naidu, Josh Ravi, Shivanya Mehra, Pooja Kasekar, and many others have seen in supporting roles. The music was composed by Gopi Sundar, while the cinematography was done by Mridul Sujit and it is edited by Dharmendra Kakarala. The film is produced by Vijay Donkala under Ananda Media banner.

Story

In the village of Padati, there is a tradition where women must cover their faces with a veil until marriage, without showing their faces in public. Subbalakshmi, also known as Subbu (Anupama Parameswaran), who belongs to this village, is in love with her childhood friend Rajesh (Rag Mayur). Their engagement is fixed, and everything seems set for their union. However, on the day of the engagement, when Subbalakshmi removes her veil, her photo unexpectedly ends up on the cover page of a popular magazine. This act is considered a violation of the village’s customs, and the elders sentence her to death by self-immolation.

Determined to prove her innocence, Subbu argues that she has done nothing wrong and begins her fight for justice. She sets out to find the photographer (Gautham Vasudev Menon) who captured her photo without her consent, leading her to the court of justice. The story unfolds around the mysteries of the Padati village, the significance of the Sri Jwalanmbika temple, the origin of the veil tradition, and the circumstances that led to Subbu’s veil being removed. It also reveals how the photographer captured her image, why her engagement with Rajesh was interrupted, and who supported her in her struggle, including Rathna (Sangeetha) and Ammi (Darshana Rajendran).

The film ultimately answers whether Subbu manages to escape the punishment, how she challenges the veil custom, and how she finally breaks the age-old restrictions imposed on women in her village. This powerful narrative forms the crux of Parada.
