Tholi Prema Story
Tholi Prema is a cult classic romantic movie made in Telugu industry, written and directed by A Karunakaran. The movie stars Pawan Kalyan and Keerthi Reddy are in the main lead roles along with Vasuki, Nagesh, Ali, Venu Madhav, Achyuth, PJ Sharma, Narra Venkateswara Rao, Ravi Babu, and many others are seen in supporting roles. The music for the film is composed by Deva while the cinematography is done by Chota K. Naidu and edited by Marthand K. Venkatesh. The movie is being produced by G. V. G. Raju under SSC Arts banner.
Story
Balu (played by Kalyan), the youngest son in his family, is known for his carefree nature. His life takes a turn when he falls head over heels for Anu (played by Keerthi), who has returned from the USA to spend time with her grandfather. Anu becomes impressed by Balu's heroic act of saving a child's life, and she attempts to get his autograph but fails. Balu, on the other hand, leaves for Ooty to pursue his studies but coincidentally encounters Anu on the way when his taxi breaks down. Tragedy strikes when Anu's car slips into a valley, and in his attempt to save her, Balu ends up falling as well.
Heartbroken, Anu tirelessly searches for Balu but eventually loses hope. Meanwhile, Balu is rescued by a truck driver and admitted to a hospital. Upon his return, Anu visits Balu's house to express her gratitude for his selfless act. Balu, filled with love for Anu, contemplates confessing his feelings but is cautioned by his sister, Vasuki.
As time progresses, Balu and Anu develop a close friendship, yet Balu lacks the courage to express his love. Vasuki gets married and leaves, coinciding with Anu's admission to a university in the USA, which means she is about to leave. The rest of the story revolves around how these two individuals find the courage to express their love for each other amidst the challenges and obstacles they face.
Theatrical Release and Re-Releases
Tholi Prema was originally released in theaters on July 24, 1998, and became a blockbuster in Pawan Kalyan's career. The film garnered immense popularity and success, leading to multiple re-releases over the years. However, on June 30, 2023, the film received a special re-release in theaters, this time in stunning 4K quality. This re-release aimed to offer fans an enhanced cinematic experience and a chance to relive the magic of "Tholi Prema" on the big screen once again.
