Kannappa Budget
Kannappa stands out as one of the most ambitious and high-budget films in Telugu cinema. As per Koimoi's report, Kannappa is made on a budget of Rs. 200 crore, marking the biggest project ever undertaken by Vishnu Manchu. Some industry reports even suggest the total cost may reach Rs. 250 crore, especially after adjustments made to its VFX and star-studded lineup.
Interestingly, the team initially spent nearly Rs. 15-20 crore on visual effects work, which was later scrapped. They then brought in eight top-tier VFX studios to ensure a better cinematic experience. Adding to the buzz, major stars like Prabhas, Mohanlal, and Akshay Kumar reportedly joined the film without charging any fee, lending both star power and significant budget relief.
For Kannappa to break even, it will need to earn between Rs. 150 and Rs. 200 crore in India alone, with a theatrical share crossing Rs. 100 crore. As a mythological action drama, its performance at the box office could shape the future of large-scale devotional films in Telugu cinema.
All About Kannappa
Kannappa is a large-scale Telugu mythological film directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, featuring Vishnu Manchu in the lead role as Kannappa-a tribal hunter whose unwavering devotion transforms him into a legendary follower of Lord Shiva. The film boasts an impressive cast, including Mohan Babu, Kajal Aggarwal, Preity Mukundan, R. Sarathkumar, Brahmanandam, and Madhoo. It also features special appearances by stars like Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, and Mohanlal, adding star power to the epic tale.
Produced by Mohan Babu under 24 Frames Factory and AVA Entertainment, Kannappa was shot over eight months at stunning locations in New Zealand and Hyderabad. Cinematographer Sheldon Chau and editor Anthony Gonsalvez played key roles in bringing the film's grandeur to life. The music, composed by Stephen Devassy with lyrics from Suddala Ashok Teja, Ramajogayya Sastry, and Sri Mani, complements the film's devotional theme.
Initially planned for an April release, the film's launch was pushed to June 27, 2025, to allow for completing its visual effects. Following its theatrical run, Kannappa is expected to premiere on OTT platforms, likely Disney+ Hotstar, making it accessible to a wider audience.
