Born on July 10, 1942, in the village of Kankipadu in Andhra Pradesh, Kota Srinivasa Rao was a well-known name in the South film industry. He had also appeared in a couple of Hindi films, marking his presence in the North. His father, Seetha Rama Anjaneyulu, was a doctor, and initially, the late actor wanted to follow his dad's footsteps and become an actor. However, fate had some other plans.

During his college, Kota Srinivasa Rao became inclined towards acting and started his career on stage in plays. After pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Science, he had reportedly worked as a bank employee before stepping into the film industry.
