SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi: Budget Exceeds ₹1300 Crore, Here’s How Much Mahesh Babu And Priyanka Chopra Earn

Varanasi budget and cast salaries revealed: The upcoming action-adventure drama helmed by master craftsman SS Rajamouli, recently had its grand launch in Hyderabad. The first glimpse of Varanasi, which marks the filmmaker's first onscreen collaboration with Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, has been receiving mixed reactions from the filmgoers across the globe. However, the 'Varanasi To The World' video has confirmed that the project is being made on a mammoth budget and scale.

Previously, it was speculated that Varanasi's budget will surely exceed ₹1000 crore. Now, according to the recent reports published by Bollywood Hungama, the SS Rajamouli directorial is being made with a massive budget of over ₹1300 crore. However, the reports also suggest that this is just the budget of the film, and the promotional budget is not being included in this amount.

In that case, the Mahesh Babu-Priyanka Chopra-Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer has emerged the most expensive production ever pulled off by the Telugu film industry so far. "₹1300 crore is a small amount to bring the enormous vision of SS Rajamouli to the big screens. While films like A6 and Ramayana are being made on a budget of ₹1500 crores to 2000 crores, SS Rajamouli is set to make a grander film compared to the other two, on a much lower budget," suggest the reports by Bollywood Hungama.

If the reports are to be believed, Mahesh Babu has opted to not take a specific amount as salary from the film, just like director SS Rajamouli. Instead, the Telugu superstar has opted to take home the profit share of the film. The industry insiders suggest that leading lady Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who makes a comeback to Indian cinema after a long break with the film, is taking home around ₹25 to ₹30 crore. Lead antagonist Prithviraj Sukumaran's remuneration for the film is yet to be revealed.
