Chiranjeevi Denies Existence Of Casting Couch In Telugu Cinema

Recently, the veteran superstar of Telugu cinema, who attended the success meet of his latest release Mana Shankaravaraprasad Garu, has left the cinephiles startled with his take on casting couch practice. Chiranjeevi, who called Telugu cinema a 'good industry' also went on to shame the victims of casting couch, stating that "the industry is like a mirror. Whatever you show, it projects it back."

"If you are strict and serious, no one would take advantage of you. There won't be any casting couch. Every thing depends on your behaviour. You might think, 'oh maybe this is how we should behave,' because of your insecurity. If you behave professionally, and the opposite person will respond in the same way," claimed the Mana Shankaravaraprasad Garu, dismissing the issues faced by the women in the industry.

Chiranjeevi's Claims Spark Major Outrage Online

Several popular members of Telugu cinema and the other industries, who are deeply affected by the veteran actor's ignorance towards this serious issue, are now calling out the Godfather actor on social media. Some of the netizens are now suggesting how Chiranjeevi represented the privileged section of the film industry, who are blissfully unaware of the industry's harsh realities.

Popular singer Chinmayi took a dig on Chiranjeevi's ignorant comments with a strong post on X recently. "Men remain in positions where they believe they are entitled to, and WILL demand and expect sexual favours from women," wrote the National Award-winner on her post, even though she didn't address the megastar directly.

"Casting couch is rampant, women are refused roles if they don't offer 'full commitment' - a word that means completely different in the film industry. If you come from an English educated background and believe 'commitment' means 'professionalism', showing up to work and being committed to your craft - you'll be wrong," reads Chinmayi's post.

Well, this is not the first-ever problematic comment made by the most senior superstar of Telugu cinema. Chiranjeevi had previously expressed his deep wish to have a grand son through his son Ram Charan, to take his forward. The megastar also infamously commented that he feels like living in a 'ladies hostel' because of having only girls as his grandchildren.
