Did Nagarjuna Turn Down Rehman Dakait's Role Dhurandhar For THESE Films? Director Aditya Dhar teamed up with Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh for the spy thriller film, which has now emerged as the one of the all-time biggest box office hits of Indian cinema. Even though Ranveer played the lead role in Dhurandhar, it was the lead antagonist Akshaye Khanna, who walked away with all the praises.

However, Akshaye Khanna was not the first choice to play the role of Rehman Dakait in the blockbuster film. As per the recent reports, director Aditya Dhar first approached Telugu superstar Nagarjuna, to play the antagonist in Dhurandhar.

As per the recent reports by Siasat, the role of Rehman Dakait in Dhurandhar was initially offered to Nagarjuna Akkineni. If the reports are to be believed, director Aditya Dhar and his team had approached the Manam star for project, and even had a narration with the senior superstar. Even though Nagarjuna instantly loved his role, he was unable to allot the required dates for Dhurandhar.

Reportedly, the senior Telugu actor had to let go of the Ranveer Singh starrer for two of his notable films - Coolie and Kuberaa. For the uninitiated, Nagarjuna played the lead antagonist Simon in the Rajinikanth starrer Coolie, which is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. He played a pivotal role in Kuberaa, which is directed by Sekhar Kammula, and featured Dhanush in the lead role.

While considering the box office run of Dhurandhar, and the love received by Akshaye Khanna, it is indeed a costly miss for Nagarjuna. Especially while considering how his performance as Simon in Rajinikanth's Coolie was thrashed by the audiences, it was clearly a wrong career move. But the audiences, who are convinced that Akshaye Khanna is the perfect choice for Rehman Dakait in the Aditya Dhar film, are now saying that it happened for the best.
