This collection is attributed to the power of the director, the star cast, and the high anticipation for the film. After a nine-year hiatus, Thalapathy Vijay and Thala Ajith once again faced off at the box office for Pongal. This time, Vijay's family drama emerged victorious, captivating audiences with its wholesome entertainment. The film raked in a staggering ₹310 crore worldwide, reaffirming Vijay's star power.

Thunivu clashed with Thalapathy's Varisu and collected a staggering ₹230 crore worldwide! The film was praised for its fast-paced screenplay and AK's attitude-filled performance. Thunivu performed exceptionally well in Tamil Nadu, opening to greater box office numbers than Varisu. However, Varisu eventually surpassed Thunivu in the overall collection race.

Dhanush's Vaathi, helmed by a Telugu director and released as a bilingual film, stormed through the box office like a conqueror, both in Kollywood and Tollywood. Amassing a whopping 118 crore, it joined the prestigious 2023 100 crore club with ease.

Mark Antony, the all-in-one entertainment package, had Vishal as the titular hero, but the show was stolen by S.J. Suriya. Audiences flocked to theatres to witness Suriya's stellar performance, and the film ultimately performed well at the box office. A 100-crore collection was a fitting tribute to the young director's work and Vishal's star power.
