7 High-Voltage Malayalam Action Blockbusters Dominating The Box Office

Made as an action entertainer, 'RDX' marked a historic milestone in Malayalam cinema. The film has broken records by reaching the 100 crore gross collection mark at the WorldBox Office. Directed by debutant Nahas Hidayath, the film starred Shane Nigam, Antony Varghese, and Neeraj Madhav in pivotal roles.

Mammootty's 'Kannur Squad' stands out as a blockbuster hit among the films of 2023, commanding remarkable success at the box office. The film, directed by Roby Varghese Raj, follows the story of ASI George Martin and his team of police officers in the specialized crime investigation unit known as the Kannur Squad.

Beeshmaparvam, starring Mammootty, emerged as the highest-grossing Malayalam film at the Kerala box office. The film achieved the remarkable feat of officially entering the coveted Rs 100 crore club. On its opening day, it reportedly garnered an impressive collection of Rs 6.15 crores at the Kerala box office.

Minnal Murali is played by Tovino Thomas in the film directed by Basil Joseph and produced by Sophia Paul. The story  is about a person who gets supernatural power after being struck by lightning and becomes the saviour of his village. Originally slated for a theatrical release in late 2020, the film faced multiple postponements due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Subsequently, in September 2021, the filmmakers announced their decision to release the movie directly on the streaming platform Netflix.

Reports indicate that 'Thallumala,' starring Tovino Thomas, emerged as the most profitable film of 2022. Within just four days of its release, the movie amassed an impressive sum of approximately Rs 31 crore at the box office. Directed by Khalid Rahman, Thallumaala, is an action-packed non-linear comedy that defies traditional storytelling conventions.

Lijo Jose Pellissary's debut movie 'Anagamali Diaries' was a breakout hit, captivating audiences with its authentic portrayal of life in Angamaly, Kerala.
