Jeethu Joseph's Drishyam is one of the best crime thriller movies in ever made in Malayalam cinema. Actor Mohanlal who played the role 'Georgekutty ' was initially offered to Mammootty, but he lost the project due to some busy schedule.
Ekalavyan
Shaji Kailas's 'Ekalavyan' is one of the highest grossing movies in Malayalam cinema. He initially approached Mammootty for the central role in the movie 'Ekalavyan'. But, Mammooty rejected the offer and mentioned that he was not interested with the script. Later, Shaji who decided to cast Suresh Gopi in the same role. The film was released in theaters in 1993, had received good responses from the audience and critics. Through his performances in the movie, Suresh Gopi who had become popular among people.
Rajavinte Makan

Veretran filmmaker Mani Ratnam announced an offer to Mammootty to play the lead role in the film 'Iruvar'. But he denied the offer and was later done by Prakash Raj.
