Fawad Khan & Vaani Kapoor’s Abir Gulaal To Release Worldwide Except In India, Know More

Abir Gulaal is a rom-com movie directed by Aarti S. Bagdi, featuring Vaani Kapoor and Fawad Khan in lead roles. The film also stars an extensive supporting cast, including Lisa Haydon, Ridhi Dogra, Soni Razdan, Farida Jalal, Rahul Vohra, Parmeet Sethi, and many more. Produced by Vivek b Agrawal, Avantika Hari and Rakesh Sippy under Indian Stories and A Richer Lens in association with Aarjay Pictures. 

On April 22, the Pahalgam terror attack shook the nation, followed by the successful Operation Sindoor, which further heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. In the aftermath, a ban on Pakistani artists in India was enforced. As a result, both Sardaar Ji 3 and Abir Gulaal faced restrictions on their Indian release. 

According to a report by Biz Asia Live, Fawad Khan’s upcoming Bollywood film is slated for a worldwide release on August 29. However, due to ongoing political tensions between India and Pakistan, it is likely to skip its release in India. The makers are reportedly considering adopting a strategy similar to that of Sardaar Ji 3, which bypassed Indian cinemas but achieved significant success overseas. An official confirmation from the makers is still awaited.

In this cross-border romantic comedy, Gulaal Bajaj (played by Vaani Kapoor), a free-spirited young woman from Jaipur, defies her traditional upbringing and escapes an arranged marriage to pursue her dreams in London. There, she meets Aabeer Singh (Fawad Khan), a guarded restaurateur with his own emotional wounds. Initially, their interactions are marked by sparks and conflict, but as they help each other navigate professional and personal challenges, their relationship softens into something deeper. Amid late-night rescues, dance classes, and mutual healing, Abir Gulaal unfolds as a story of love, forgiveness, and personal growth.

Fawad Khan is reportedly returning to Bollywood after an eight-year gap with Abir Gulaal. The actor was last seen in Hindi cinema in 2016’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. His comeback film is set for a worldwide release, though it is likely to skip Indian theatres due to political tensions.
