In Tamil cinema, sequels are typically reserved for blockbuster hits or films with unique concepts and fan following. While a few sequels managed to carry the success of their originals, many others failed spectacularly be it due to weak storytelling, outdated direction, or lack of emotional depth. Here’s a look at some of the major sequels that promised a lot but fell flat when they hit the big screen.

 Chandramukhi 2 tried to revive the magic of the 2005 blockbuster Chandramukhi directed by P. Vasu, With a cast featuring Raghava Lawrence, Kangana Ranaut, and Lakshmi Menon, and music by M.M. Keeravani, the film was mounted on a grand scale by Lyca Productions. However, the film lacked the suspense and psychological intensity of the original.
