Salman Khan to Deepika Padukone, Bollywood Celebrities Who Worked For Free In Movies

Shah Rukh Khan did not charge any fee for his cameo in Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva (2022). SRK played the role of Mohan Bhargav, the scientist wielding the Vanarastra, in Ayan Mukerji’s fantasy epic. Shah Rukh Khan has done several movies for free, including cameos in Hey Ram, Bhoothnath, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. 

Deepika Padukone did not charge a fee for Om Shanti Om (2007) as it was her Bollywood debut. Directed by Farah Khan, the film starred Shah Rukh Khan and became a massive blockbuster. Deepika played a double role Shantipriya and Sandy and her performance won hearts, making her an overnight star. 

Sonam Kapoor reportedly charged only ₹11 for her role in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013) as a symbolic gesture. She played Biro, Milkha Singh’s love interest, in a brief but impactful role. Sonam agreed to do the film for a token amount as a mark of respect for the legendary athlete Milkha Singh and her admiration for director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.

Salman Khan did not charge any fee for his cameo in Pathaan (2023). Reprising his role as Tiger, Salman made a thrilling appearance alongside Shah Rukh Khan in an action-packed train sequence. His cameo was a major highlight of the film, delighting fans and setting the stage for the YRF Spy Universe crossover.

Farhan Akhtar reportedly didn’t charge a fee for Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013), as a tribute to legendary athlete Milkha Singh. Director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra revealed that Milkha Singh only took ₹1 as a token amount for the film rights, and in return, Farhan decided to forgo his acting fee as a mark of respect. The film became a massive hit at the box office.
