Vishal, Sasikumar, and Ravi Mohan Sensational Actors Who Started Their Careers as Assistant Directors

Karthi, the son of veteran actor Sivakumar, began his cinema career as an assistant director. He worked under legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam for the film Aayutha Ezhuthu. However, he made his acting debut as the lead in Paruthiveeran, directed by Ameer, which earned him immense critical and fan appreciation. Later, he collaborated again with Mani Ratnam in Kaatru Veliyidai, playing a major role.

Popularly known as Ravi Mohan, he made his acting debut with the romantic drama Jayam, which brought him into the spotlight. He is the son of renowned editor Mohan and younger brother of director M. Raja. Before becoming an actor, he worked as an assistant director to Suresh Krishna for the film Aalavandhan.

Siddharth started his acting career with Shankar’s film Boys, but before that, he served as an assistant director to Mani Ratnam in Kannathil Muthamittal. His passion for cinema helped him transition smoothly into acting, and he later starred in several successful Tamil and Telugu films.

Before debuting as an actor, Vishal worked as an assistant director under Arjun Sarja for films like Vedham and Ezhumalai. He was launched as a hero in Chellamae (2004), directed by Gandhi Krishna. He later shared screen space with Arjun again in the blockbuster Irumbu Thirai.

Sasikumar began his journey in cinema as an assistant director for Bala’s Sethu. He also worked under Ameer in Mounam Pesiyadhe and Raam. Eventually, he turned director and lead actor with Subramaniapuram, a film that earned him recognition both as a filmmaker and actor.
