Ranbir Kapoor's latest movie Barfi starring Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz with him, has had a very good response in the international market. The romantic comedy movie has raked in Rs 11.87 crores ($2.2 million) at the overseas Box Office in its first weekend. Its business is far better than Ranbir's previous movies Raajneeti and Rockstar.
Barfi started with a bang in countries like the USA and UAE. The Anurag Basu directed movie has collected Rs 5.73 crores ($10,61,713) from 132 screens at the USA Box Office in the first weekend. It has raked in approximately Rs 3.30 crores ($6,10,000) at the UAE Box Office in its opening weekend.
Ranbir-Priyanka starrer had a slower start in the UK, New Zealand and Australia. But a positive word of mouth spread like wild fire which helped the film Barfi grow steadfastly on Saturday and Sunday. It has collected Rs 2.02 crores (£2,29,783) from 64 screens at the UK Box Office in the first weekend of its release in the country.
Barfi has collected Rs 78.68 lakhs (A$1,38,257) from 15 screens at the Australia Box Office in its opening weekend. The film has collected Rs 10.22 lakhs (NZ$22,815) from 7 screens at the New Zealand Box Office and Rs 1.63 lakhs (FJD 5,317) from 1 screen at the Fiji Box Office in the first weekend of its release.
