Who is Kalki Koechlin?

Kalki Koechlin played the character of Chandramukhi in the movie Dev D directed by Anurag Kashyap. But very few had ever heard of Kalki before this movie. Kalki was born to French parents in Bangalore but later on she moved to Mumbai to try her luck in Bollywood. She is a alumni of the London University where she studied drama and theatre.

Her parents had interestingly come to India as hippies 38 years ago and settled here after they fell in love with India. She had ventured into modelling to start a career and featured in quite a few television commercials before landing up in Anurag Kashyap's movie. The icing on the cake happened when she fell in love with the director while shooting for the movie.

Kalki had a tough time while dubbing for the movie as he speaks Hindi with a Tamil accent. She now carries a Hindi book with her wherever she goes to improve her accent and proficiency with the language. She wants to do more work in Bollywood. Kalki claims that she is Indian by heart and has no connection with France other than her parents.
