Akshay refused Screen Award out of anger

Akshay Kumar earned praises from all quarters of Bollywood when he gave away his Star Screen Most Popular Actor to Aamir Khan. But now it seems Akshay did not do this out of generosity but anger. Akshay was promised the Best Actor award for his performance in Singh Is Kinng but as it turned out the award went to Hrithik Roshan for Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodhaa Akbar.

Akshay was supposed to perform at the event and asked a hefty sum for it. The organisers were reluctant to pay him and promised him the Best Actor award for his presence during the event. Akshay had even written his winning speech and given it to be set on the teleprompter. Hrithik who was not expected to be present during the awards ceremony turned up at the last moment and had to be given the Best Actor award for his superb performance in Jodhaa Akbar.

The organisers then called Akshay's name for the Most Popular Actor award. Akki who angry but could not have escaped being on the stage played a masterstroke. He nominated Aamir for the award knowing that the perfectionist actor never attends award ceremonies. Akshay soon left the place much before the ceremony was over. Well this was the closest Akshay came to winning the Best Actor award something which has eluded him all his career.
