Just
3
days
before
the
release
of
Dostana,
its
makers
Dharma
Productions
received
a
little
bit
of
a
scare
when
PNC
(Pritish
Nandy
Communications)
filed
a
case
against
them
for
using
one
of
their
songs
"Kuch
Kum" in
Dostana.
Apparently,
the
story
goes
that,
the
song
"Kuch
Kum" was
originally
composed
by
Vishal-Shekhar
for
a
film
which
was
to
be
directed
by
Tarun
Mansukhani
for
the
PNC
banner.
However,
the
film
never
took
off
and
Tarun
went
on
to
direct
Dharma
Productions'
Dostana.
When
Pritish
Nandy
heard
the
song
featured
in
Dostana,
he
was
quite
livid
and
raised
an
objection
with
the
makers
-
Dharma
Productions.
However,
rather
than
getting
into
unnecessary
legal
tangles,
the
parties
decided
to
resolve
the
issue
mutually
in
an
out
of
the
court
settlement.
Eventually,
Dharma
Productions
compensated
PNC
by
paying
them
Rs.3
crores
for
just
that
one
song.
While
Pritish
Nandy
must
be
a
relieved
man
having
got
his
due,
the
people
at
Dharma
Productions
must
be
surely
pondering
over
this
(suddenly
turned)
expensive
song.
