Actor-turned-director
Pankaj
Kapoor
who
is
all
set
with
his
upcoming
film
Mausam
says
that
the
film
is
specially
made
for
his
son
actor
Shahid
Kapoor,
who
is
the
lead
of
the
film.
"I
have
wanted
to
direct
a
film.
I
have
directed
television
for
about
five
years.
So
there
was
a
desire
to
direct.
I
have
been
writing
for
a
long
time.
So
here
came
a
moment
where
we
decided
to
go
with
this
film...with
this
particular
subject,
which
was
frankly,
specifically
written
for...keeping
Shahid
in
mind," Pankaj,
who
makes
his
debut
as
a
director,
told
during
the
promotions
of
Mausam.
"The
film
was
to
be
made
for
Shahid.
My
thought
was
like
I
had
to
write
a
film
for
Shahid," he
told.
Mausam'',
a
love
story
starring
Shahid
Kapoor
and
Sonam
Kapoor
in
the
lead
roles.
"It
was
specified
in
my
head
that
the
film
is
to
be
made
with
him
(Shahid).
It
is
not
like
I
had
written
the
script
and
I
decided
to
cast
him.
I
have
lot
of
other
scripts
and
we
pondered
over
it
whether
he
should
be
part
of
them
or
another
script
should
be
written
for
him.
So
it
was
decided
that
a
fresh
film...a
fresh
script
should
be
written.
So
that
is
how
Mausam
happened,"
the
debutante
director
informed.
Shahid
Kapoor
in
Mausam
essays
the
role
of
an
Air
Force
officer,
while
Sonam
Kapoor
plays
his
love
interest.
"Like
every
father
I
also
want
my
son
to
go
ahead...excel
in
life.
Shahid
has
the
ability
to
do
things.
He
has
proved
himself
and
has
been
doing
it
now.
His
acting
ability,
cinematic
knowledge
will
come
in
front
of
all
in
the
near
future.
I
wish
all
success
for
him,"
told
the
proud
father.
Talking
about
the
female
lead
of
Mausam,
Sonam
Kapoor,
the
director
told
that
while
writing
the
script
he
had
no
girl
in
his
mind.
It
was
the
character
of
the
lady
that
was
there
in
his
head.
However,
after
finishing
the
script,
they
approached
Sonam
for
the
film.
“Sonam
was
the
very
first
one
to
be
approached
for
the
role,"
told
senior
Kapoor.
