Will.I.Am Recreates A.R Rahman's Hit Song 'Urvashi'

Finally some Bollywood song has been remade in proper Hollywood style! Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am has collaborated with R&B artist Cody Wise and released their new track, It's My Birthday which has recreated the 90's hit song, Urvashi which is also known as Urvasi in Bollywood. West has finally discovered the catchy tunes of this number by Oscar winning music maestro, A.R Rahman.

"Excited to creatively partner with will.i.am to recreate an early popular track of mine in a new flavour," AR Rahman said on the Birthday song.

Urvashi Urvashi is one of the hit Bollywood songs from Humse Hai Muqabla which was composed by the music maestro AR Rahman. Kadhalan was the original Tamil song of the same movie name which was composed by A. R. Rahman. It was later sung in Hindi and the Hindi song is known as Urvashi. The song Urvashi was written by Vairamuthu, Vaali, Thirikudarasappa Kavirayar and S. Shankar.

Now Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am released the English version using the same music. The song is named It's My Birthday. The hit rapper and singer collaborated with Cody Wise and a number of popular artists from Vine, YouTube and Maker Studios to recreate this '90s hit Tollywood/Bollywood song, Urvashi.

His popular song for the Tamil romcom 'Kadhalan' in 1994 titled 'Urvashi' became a big hit in Bollywood with Prabhu Deva dancing his best in the Hindi remake of the film. The song was later dubbed in Telugu as Premikudu. Lyrics for these versions were written by P. K. Mishra and Rajashri in Hindi and Telugu respectively.

The Tollywood/Bollywood song Urvashi was played at every club, disco, restaurant, marriage hall and street corner across the country. The immense popularity of the 90s song increased A.R. Rahman and Prabhu Deva's popularity and they were nationally acclaimed. The song went down in Indian movie history as one of the most popular songs of all time.

Will.i.am and Cody's It's My Birthday recreates the hit song of A.R. Rahman from the 90s. They have tried really best to bring in the perfect music to their English version. Take a look at the video.
