Minions Movie Review: Yellow Blobs & Their Frolics Steal The Show

Rating:
3.0/5

Minions is a prequel to the time, 42 years BG (Before Gru), when there was no Gru, Lucy, Dr. Nefario, and three beautiful kids, Agnes, El and Margo. This movie from the Despicable Me franchise is all about the goggle-eyed yellow creatures who have a gibberish minions language, and their funny jokes and frolics will make us laugh our hearts out!

One of the major attractions of the film are the minions who take you to a fun filled trip as the silly creatures try their luck in getting a master for themselves and keeping them which is tricky for the yellow blobs. After accidentally killing their masters which vary from the Tyrannosaurus to Dracula to Napoleon, the minions alienate themselves completely and built their own world in the snowy Antarctica as they fail to find a bad and super villain boss.

Bob along with Stuart and Kevin take a complicated journey to find a new boss and end up landing to New York. Their road trip with a family of armed bandits in an attempt to reach Orlando is one of the best scenes in the movie.

Once they reach Orlando, Bob, Stuart and Kevin meet the villain of the movie, Scarlett Overkill (Sandra Bullock) during a villain con.

The 91 minutes movie is enchanting and the yellow little nincompoops steal the show entirely. Even though we have human counterparts, it is the little yellow henchmen from the "Despicable Me" franchise who are conquerors of our hearts.

Sandra Bullock has played an awesome role as the super villain, Scarlett. She is charming, loud and not to forget, dangerous. Apart from Sandra Bullock, Minions feature voices of Michael Keaton, Jon Hamm, Geoffrey Rush, and director, Pierre Coffin to name a few.

We hear the narration about the history of the minions from Geoffrey Rush. The movie is not about a plot but about those yellow titular characters who with their frolics and love for 'bananaaaaaaa' try to find a master but end up messing it with their silliness.
