Actress Shweta Menon's movie Kalimannu was a much hyped one owing to the uniqueness in its theme. Moreover, the movie had the live delivery scene of the actress. The movie had faced many controversies due to the same. Now, the latest buzz is that Kalimannu is getting its Tamil remake!
Kalimannu was directed by Blessy. The remake bears the title Uyirin Osai. Shweta Menon plays the female lead in the remake version too. The rest of the cast and crew is yet to be finalised.
Kalimannu tells the story of motherhood. It is about the struggles of a woman who uses technology to embrace motherhood after her husband is declared brain dead. Biju Menon played the husband to the role essayed by Shweta Menon in the Malayalam version. Shweta essayed the role of a bar dancer who aspires to become an actress. But, due to certain circumstances, she was forced to commit suicide. Biju Menon, who was a taxi driver, saves her and later marries her.
On her stepping stone to become an actress, her husband meets with an accident and is declared brain dead. How she then dares to face the world and give birth to a child of her own with the help of technology wraps up the story.
The movie did created a lot of controversies and was even asked to get banned from screening. But, inspite of all the turmoils the director dared to screen the movie and it did wonders.
