Bajirao Mastani is a Tamil period romance film, based on the love story between Maratha Peshwa Baji Rao I and his second wife Mastani.
Ranveer Singh plays the character of Baji Rao I - a warrior and the second Peshwa of the Maratha Empire, from 1720 until his death. Where Deepika Padukone as Mastani, second wife of Baji Rao and Priyanka Chopra as Kashibai, first wife of Baji Rao.
The film was first announced in 2003. Sanjay Leela Bhansali initially wanted to cast Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai for the titular roles, but could not cast them together after their highly publicised break-up.
Several actors were rumoured to be linked to the project including Shahrukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif. In July 2014, it was confirmed that Bhansali had revived the project with Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone playing the titular roles and Priyanka Chopra playing Bajirao's first wife, Kashiba.

The movie, more than anything, is an extraordinary representation of the fact that love is true and beyond religions. And Bajirao (Ranveer Singh), the intrepid and heroic Peshwa who has battled hard to win every war he has fought, fights even harder to bring respect to his beloved Mastani (Deepika Padukone), who is disliked by his wife Kashibai (Priyanka Chopra) and other members of the Peshwa family.

The film made on a budget of ₹120 crore (US$18 million).The satellite and music rights of the film were sold for ₹50 crore and ₹10 crore respectively.
Bajirao Mastani in Tamil, Telugu
Bajirao Mastani is been dubbed in Tamil and Telugu to reach a wider audience, the producers have said. Tamil lyricist Madhan Karky, who has penned dialogue for mega hits Baahubali and Enthiran (Robot), will be working on the Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone starrer in Tamil, a release said. Ramajogayya Sastry will write the dialogue for the film’s Telugu version.
