Very rarely we see audience and critics having same verdict on a film. Especially, for a film with no stars in the cast and has a off-beat content, we hardly see getting thumbs up from all sections. Well, here is a movie, which has done a magic in 2013. Yes, Bala's Paradesi has taken the audience by storm.

The film was released with a lot of expectations. Though there was no big star in the cast, the brand Bala had made people to wait on their toes for the release of Paradesi. And the director has not disappointed them again. The filmmaker, whose last film Avan Ivan did not live up to his reputation, has not only won the hearts of critics now but also audience.

Story of The Movie
In a small hamlet in Salur, resides hundreds of happy families in harmony, hope and optimism of a better future. One among them is Rasa (Atharva), who lives with his grandmother. He is the most obedient and hard working male in the locality and earns a livelihood by doing household chores and odd jobs. However, his grandmother expects him to search for employment instead of begging for one square meal.

He leaves home in search of a job, only to return afterwards with an employment offer for everybody in his hamlet to work in a tea plantation. Excited by the promise of a decent wage and retirement from service after one year, hundreds of villagers go with their chins up and eyes filled with aspirations. But it doesn't take them too long to realise that a castle of dreams don't become reality. And reality is painful and traumatic. What happens to them and hundreds alike at the tea plantation? This forms the rest of the story.

Now, we are bringing you what our readers have to say about the movie. Follow the slideshow...

Awesome Movie. I would say one of the best movie from Bala.

Oneindia Reader Sai Prakash Wrote...

Typical Bala tragedy of hopelessness, poverty, crime and unemployment in the working class of Tamil World. First half is racy. Second half is slow. Adharva is bland and inadequate in his role. Don't think he has any future as hero in Kollywood. GVP music is average & seems copied from other Bala films. The film may land in a controversy soon and protest from CSI for its anti-evangelist stance. Limited impact.

Oneindia Reader MS Ramesh Wrote...

Bala's Paradesi is one of the truely epic movies in recent times...He has touched the subject of 'exploitism' with so much maturity and realism which I do not think any other director in India is capable of. Every shot is a poem in itself. What a performance of almost all the actors ! Atharvaa is simply superb... Vedhika even better. A Must watch. I will give all ***** Five stars !!!

Oneindia Reader Madmax Wrote...

The movie sucked big time. Boring as hell! Just another exploitation flick. Bala has made a mockery of a 'so called' true story.
