Actress Sandhya, popularly known as 'Kaadhal' Sandhya because of her debut movie, entered into wedlock on Sunday (December 6th). The marriage took place in Kerala at the famous Guruvayur temple, according to a report.
Her wedding, with an IT professional named Venkat Chandrasekharan, was initially planned to take place in Chennai but later shifted to Kerala because of the unfortunate flood, the city is battling at the moment.
It is said that Sandhya's family were forced to stay at their apartment with no possible means to get in touch with the groom's family. After a painful hiatus, their phones were finally resurrected on Saturday morning, after which they decided to shift the venue of the actress' marriage.
Sandhya, who was last seen in Kaththukkutti (special appearance) in Tamil, had to be content with a marriage ceremony sans grandiose as they were able to reach Kerala only by Saturday evening.
On Sunday morning, the couple tied the knot, after last minute arrangements had been taken care of at the temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna.
A grand reception is expected to take place in Chennai, after normalcy is restored in the city. Sandhya bagged a truckload of awards for her role in Kaadhal, after which she became a popular actress in Kollywood. She has appeared in Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada movies as well.
The actress is expected to continue her professional life post marriage, as she has already taken up a host of films in Tamil and Malayalam, which are presently being filmed.
Some of her upcoming films include Soodhattam and Thimiru 2 - Veri in Tamil and Puzhayum Kannadiyum, Long Sight, Paris Payyans & Second Innings in Malayalam.
After receiving a Filmfare and Tamil Nadu State Film Special Award for Best Actress for her role in Kaadhal, Sandhya went on to bag a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the Telugu movie, Annavaram.

As mentioned earlier, she caught the attention of many through her performance in her debut film. Her act in Kaadhal remains to be her best as far as Tamil cinema is concerned.
Vallavan had three lead heroines in Nayantara, Reema Sen and Sandhya. Though the Ya Ya actress' role was limited in this flick, she had managed to perform her role with diligence.
Dishyum was her second Tamil movie. Paired opposite Jiiva for the first time, Sandhya walked away with accolades for the portrayal of a college student in the movie.
Being a family entertainer, this film had an impressive casting which included the likes of Sathyaraj, Radhika Sarathkumar and Prithviraj. Performing among a host of talented actors, Sandhya had once again proved her mettle, bringing out all the cute expressions.
Irumbukkottai Murattu Singam
Directed by Chimbu Deven, Irumbukkottai Murattu Singam was a comedy flick based on 'cowboy stories' from the West. Sandhya had played a character named Thumbi in this film which is set in the 19th century.
Though this is a Kannada movie, Sandhya's performance in Aptharakshaka deserves a mention. A sequel to Apthamitra (Chandramukhi in Tamil), this film had Sandhya playing the all important role of Nagavalli.
