Director
Apoorva
Lakhia's
bilingual
movie,
which
is
remake
of
1973
film
Zanjeer,
is
simultaneously
made
in
Hindi
as
Zanjeer
and
Telugu
as
Toofan.
It
marks
Ram
Charan
and
Priyanka
Chopra's
acting
debut
in
Hindi
and
Telugu,
respectively.
It
has
been
creating
a
positive
buzz
ever
since
it
went
on
the
floor.
The
latest
we
hear
is
that
its
rights
for
Telugu
remake
and
distribution
have
been
sold
for
Rs
50
crore.
Reports
suggest
that
a
leading
distribution
house
has
bought
the
all-India
theatrical
rights
of
Toofan
and
AP
distribution
rights
for
its
Hindi
version
Zanjeer
for
Rs
50
crore.
The
AP
rights
of
Zanjeer
were
in
great
demand
in
the
Nizam
area
which
also
include
the
bordering
areas
of
Maharashtra
like
Marathwada,
Aurangabad
and
Sholapur.
Trade
pundits
in
T-Town
opine
that
the
amount
paid
for
the
rights
is
worth.
It
should
be
recalled
here
that
the
rights
of
Ram
Charan
Teja's
Telugu
films
Racha
and
Nayak
were
sold
for
Rs
40
crore
and
Rs
43
crore
and
they
had
grossed
more
than
Rs
42
crores
and
Rs
46
crores,
respectively.
Now,
Toofan
has
set
a
new
record
by
selling
its
rights
to
Rs
50
crores.
Now,
sources
close
to
the
production
team
say
that
Toofan
will
release
in
over
1,000
theatres
in
the
state,
while
Zanjeer
hits
200
screens.
It
should
be
seen
how
both
the
versions
will
perform
at
the
Box
Office.
