Earlier
this
month,
the
much-loved
Vijay
Sethupathi
became
the
talk
of
Kollywood
for
all
the
right
reasons
when
96
opened
to
a
good
response
at
the
box
office
and
emerged
as
a
big
hit.
A
romantic-drama,
the
film
was
directed
by
Prem
Kumar
and
clicked
big
time
with
the
movie
buffs
courtesy
Makkal
Selvan's
crackling
chemistry
with
Trisha.
Shortly
after
the
film
became
a
hit,
it
was
reported
that
Dil
Raju
would
be
remaking
it
in
Telugu.
The
grapevine
suggested
that
the
remake
would
feature
the
'Natural
Star'
Nani
and
actress
Samantha
Akkineni
in
the
lead
roles.
As
expected,
this
created
a
great
deal
of
buzz
in
Tollywood.
Recently,
on
being
asked
a
question
about
doing
the
96
remake,
Sam
gave
an
unexpected
response
and
left
everyone
in
a
state
of
shock.
According
to
Gulte,
she
said
that
96
'shouldn't
be
remade'.
The
buzz
is
that
this
was
the
Ye
Maya
Chesave
actress'
way
of
telling
Dil
Dil
Raju
that
remaking
such
a
good
film
is
not
a
wise
idea.
In
the
meanwhile,
the
gossip
mills
suggest
that
Dil
Raju
is
keen
on
selecting
the
right
director
for
the
film
and
has
apparently
zeroed
in
on
Harish
Shankar.
Last
year,
he
had
delivered
a
big
hit
with
Duvvada
Jagannadham
and
proved
his
mettle.
As
such,
he
might
be
the
right
choice
for
the
remake.
One
can
expect
more
clarity
on
this
in
the
days
to
come.
