Screenshots of theatre listings from various parts of Pakistan, including cities like Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore and Sialkot among others, have apparently gone viral on the internet.

Addressing the scandal, Diljit revealed that the film was shot months before the tension rose between the two countries. He said, "Jab yeh film bani thi tab toh situation sab theek tha. Matlab jab yeh humne shoot kiya, February mein... February mein shoot kiya, tab situation theek thi, saara kuchh sahi chal raha tha. Uske baad, dekho bohot saari cheezein, badi cheezein humaare haath mein nahi hai. Toh yeh producers ne decide kiya ki yeh film obviously ab India toh nahi lagegi, toh isko overseas release karte hain. Toh obviously inka bohot paisa laga hua hai, aur jab yeh film ban rahi thi tab aisa kuchh tha nahi. Diljit Dosanjh's Role In Border 2 Under Fire; FWICE Sends Open Letter To The Makers
The casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in Diljit Dosanjh's Sardaar Ji 3 has sparked massive outrage online, leaving all Indians disappointed and hurt. As a result, FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) has sent an open letter to Bhushan Kumar (Border 2 producer), Imitiaz Ali and Sunny Deol urging them to 'reconsider' Diljit's casting in their films.
"FWICE has time and again made its position clear-we will not accept or tolerate any cooperation or collaboration with Pakistani artists in any form or on any platform. Such actions are a disservice to the sacrifices made by our armed forces and citizens who continue to face the consequences of cross-border hostilities and terrorism," a part of the letter stated.
Calling Diljit's casting in a film like Border 2, which is supposed to honour the valour and sacrifice of Indian soldiers, "disturbing", the film body further added, "This not only defeats the spirit of the film but also sends a disheartening message to every Indian."
The letter concluded, "We hereby request you to immediately reconsider your casting decision. FWICE urges you to stand by the nation and the industry's collective stand. Let us reiterate-for us, the nation comes first, and we expect the same unwavering commitment from every respected member of the film fraternity. (sic)"
