Raipur Police have initiated a legal case against director Anurag Kashyap, citing allegations of inciting discord among communities through his controversial comments about Brahmins. The complaint was lodged by Pandit Neelkanth Tripathi, a prominent figure within the Rashtriya Brahman Mahasangh (Bharat), who holds the positions of national vice president and Chhattisgarh in charge. Tripathi's grievance, filed at the City Kotwali police station, revolves around Kashyap's recent social media posts, which he deems as casteist and offensive towards the Brahmin community, thereby disrupting societal peace. The accusations against Kashyap stem from his posts that apparently targeted the Brahmin community, sparking outrage and claims of societal disruption. The filmmaker has been formally charged under two sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) – Section 196, which deals with the promotion of enmity between different groups on various grounds including religion and race, and Section 302, which concerns utterances made with the deliberate intention to hurt religious sentiments. The police have confirmed that an investigation is currently in progress to further explore the matter.
