The clash began when Harshvardhan Rane publicly declared that he would not feature in Sanam Teri Kasam 2 if Mawra Hocane was involved. His announcement followed the actress's critical remarks on India's airstrike operation targeting terror bases across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which claimed 26 lives, including civilians and security personnel.

Mawra's response to Rane's decision sparked even more controversy. Labeling his move as a "PR strategy," she accused the actor of being "desperate for attention" and criticized him for thinking about film prospects during such a sensitive geopolitical moment.

Harshvardhan has now responded firmly via his new Instagram Story, stating that while Mawra had made personal and hateful comments, he had refrained from attacking her dignity. "I never insulted her as a woman. My decision was based on principles, not personal vendetta," he wrote.

He further defended his choice using a metaphor: "An Indian farmer removes weeds to protect his crop. That's not PR-it's common sense. I chose to step down from the sequel because I stand with my country."

In his closing remarks, Rane reiterated that he has every right to refuse collaboration with anyone who labels India's defense operations as "cowardly." Without naming her directly, he maintained his stance with poise: "So much hate in her speech, so many personal remarks. I will not stoop to that level-I will maintain respect."
